EDI Module

CargoTrac™ EDI was designed to facilitate the transmission of data between two computer systems using nationally recognized standards.

Due to the variety of data and the number of sets that are available, the CargoTrac™ EDI System utilizes a sophisticated program which translates data from various files in different formats into a standard transmission record which can be interpreted by a trading partner who is using EDI. The translator incorporates TDC, EDIFACT, X.12, CARGOIMP and WINS standards.

A second key element of the CargoTrac™ EDI System is the use of external tables. It allows the user to maintain complete control over the data elements which requires no programming intervention to be transmitted on a customer by customer basis.

The following is a brief overview of the main functions of the CargoTrac™ EDI System:

TRANSLATOR APPROACH
Eliminates the need to maintain multiple programs which perform the same function. The ability to add new EDI sets without the need for a new program.

TABLE DRIVEN
Ability to maintain multiple sets for multiple customers without programming changes.

SUPPORT
All data sets are created and maintained by FDS ensuring updates and compatibility with the FDS database.

DATA SELECTION
User defined selection criteria allows for the ability to send the same set with different data to various trading partners.

ARCHIVE
Ability to archive transmission by transmission number and user number.

COPY FEATURE
Ability to copy a defined set, segment or another name to facilitate the setup of a new transaction set for a new customer.

AUTO TRANSMISSION
Ability to maintain automatic transmission capability by customer.

GENERIC TRANSLATOR
Generic translator within the Pick Language environment for inbound and outbound EDI. FDS customers will enjoy the added benefit of total integration to the FDS system database.
