FDS LINK Module

FDSLINK is designed to facilitate the transmission of data between MINI computers and Personal Computers utilizing nationally recognized standards. This allows for independent off-line inquiry and/or the updating of tracking as well as other information. This transmission can occur in both directions (i.e. - from Mini to P/C and from P/C to Mini).

Due to the variety of data and number of sets that are available, the FDSLINK system uses sophisticated programs which translate the data from various files in different formats into a standard transmission record which can be easily interpreted by trading partners who are using FDSLINK on P/C's. The translator incorporates routines which extract information from main files into meaningful data sets for the P/C user.

A second key element of the FDSLINK system is the use of external drivers (tables) which allow the user to maintain complete control over the data elements being transmitted on a customer by customer basis.
This system will undoubtedly provide you with a vital competitive edge which will assist you in both maintaining your existing client base as well as to entice new clients with this innovative and exciting service capability.
The licensing of our EDI product is a prerequisite to the FDSLINK application.

The following is only a brief overview of the main functions of the FDSLINK system.

DOWNLOAD & UPLOAD
Full control of inquiry and/or update information being accessed by client for any FDS operational module. You or your customer can custom design an individual inquiry screen as well as update screens based on your individual needs and requirements. The system provides means for not only down-loading data from Mini computer to P/C, but also allows for up-loading a variety of custom selected data back to the Mini computer such as Email, CHB data, PO's SLI's etc.

REPORT WRITER
This powerful utility will facilitate your ability to generate customized reports to the specific needs and requirements as established by yourself and your clients.

TRANSLATOR APPROACH
Eliminates the need to maintain multiple programs which perform the same functions. Also, it allows the addition of new Inquiry and/or Update sets without the need for new programs.

DRIVER CONTROLLED
Allows multiple driver sets for multiple customers without additional programming changes.

DATA SELECTION
User defined selection criteria allows transmission of same set with different data to different trading partners.

FORMATTING
Records are automatically formatted on the Mini during off-peak hours which prevents system degradation during peak use. Additionally, the user controls all aspects of formatting inclusive of the timing and frequency of updates.

SELECTIVITY
Only newly entered and/or modified records since last retrieval by client are transmitted thereby eliminating redundant record transmission and establishing integrity of data.

PORTABILITY
FDSLINK can be installed on any PC or compatible including lap-top computers. This gives the end user total flexibility over the type of equipment needed both on or off-site.

COST EFFECTIVE
Client can download data during off peak hours thereby taking advantage of off-peak discounts on telephone charges. The clients information is perpetually current on his POC and is available on demand.

ARCHIVE
Ability to archive transmission by transmission number, user, date and time.
