SHIPPER SYSTEM Module
The FDS International, Inc. Shippers Inquiry
module affords the freight company the ability
to connect major shippers and agents into the
CargoTrac computer system. This connection may
be for the use of the shipper to directly
enter their letter of instruction, trace
shipments for the progress to destination or
direct electronic mail between operations such
as preadvice notices.
In addition to the direct connection ability,
CargoTrac can provide an optional inquiry by
Telex/DDD. This allows Customer Service
related information to be directed to those
customers that have the correct access or
security code.
For those customers that have been provided
special reporting and access capability, the
customer may also elect the option to print a
traffic report that will break down the total
shipments either received or sent for the
customers indicated locations. This report is
broken into major IATA territory areas, origin
and destination cities. The total pieces,
weight and airfreight costs are accumulated
and extended into a cost per pound/kilo.
Additional charges are also calculated.
The shipper is supplied with a special
security code and the instructions for
connection to the computer system. This
connection is generally achieved through a
standard telephone line and a simple CRT. Once
the security requirements are satisfied, the
operator will see the following display of the
CRT:
